Romanian Peace Move Reported

ANKARA AP Balkan sources in Turkey said Thursday a Romanian mission headed by Vice Premier and Foreign Minister Mihai A. Antonescu left for Moscow to seek an honorable peace. The London Daily Express said foreign diplomats in London believed Romania received detailed peace terms from Russia with the other United Nations' approval. The terms were described as generous. The mission reportedly would propose Romania remain neutral for the remainder of the war under Russian control and ask recognition of Romania's right to Transylvania, a claim also made by Hungary. Romania's move followed Soviet assurances to Molotov that the Red Army sought to destroy the enemy rather than seize Romanian territory. Premier Ion Antonescu, Ion Antonescu's brother, had returned from inspecting Romanian troops on the northern Moldavian front and told the country that Moldavia would be defended.
