Iowa City Ped Mall Reconstruction Starts April 30
The $6.8 million Pedestrian Mall renovation in Iowa City begins April 30 and runs into next summer. Crews will fence off the area and rebuild 75,000 square feet of brick, upgrade water mains sewers lights and benches, add a stage and canopy, with the Dubuque Street phase first and College Street slated for 2019. Pedestrian access remains through the work and brick salvage plans are being explored.
