Marion board to hold hearing on 18.9 million budget
The Marion Independent school board will hold a 4 30 p m public hearing on an 18.9 million 2004 05 budget to reduce the property tax levy. A vote on the budget and a closed session to discuss a three year contract extension for Superintendent Nick Hobbs follow, then a 5 30 p m work session on the K 3 reading program. The plan cuts the tax rate to 16 81 per 1000 and ends Linn County’s highest levy. The 60 tax cut applies to a 100 000 home, and the PPEL extension passed with 65.8 percent support.
