ResCare in Linn County Faces Scrutiny Over Costs and Care
Audit reports show 1998 expenses of 448.8 million with higher revenues and lower profits after ResCare's acquisitions. County officials note adequate working capital and a 138 million credit line as of Dec 31 1998. Trustees weigh moving residents to community care and funding start ups, while concerns about past incidents at Abbe and ResCare facilities temper expectations of private management. The county review finds no pervasive pattern of poor care at either provider.
