Robert B. Tootell new Farm Credit head says capital needs to start farming have doubled since 1940 requiring about 50 000 for a beginner in agriculture. Farmers Club To Hear W. Plager

Wilbur L. Plager field secretary for the Iowa Swine Producers Association will speak at the Farmers club April luncheon meeting Tuesday noon at the Roosevelt hotel. Plager, a nationally known swine judge and advocate of the meat type hog, will discuss developments and their impact on the farm economy and will show colored slides. The meeting is open to all farmers and anyone interested in farming activities.

Amana DHIA Reports March Butterfat Average 37.5 Pounds

Amana Society DHIA records a March butterfat average of 37.5 pounds, up three pounds from February. Cows finishing 305-day lactations posted high yields in Amana, High, Middle, West, and East herds, with South Amana totals of 514.8, 548.6, and 718.9 pounds for top cows, while three cows were removed for low production, four for sterility, and ten for other reasons.
