Iowa funeral director admits misusing funds in insurance schemes
Daniel Ciha of Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Services admitted diverting 180000 dollars from 26 pre need insurance transactions between 2008 and 2014. The Iowa Insurance Division ordered a license suspension and indefinitely revoked the agency insurance license, plus a 5000 dollar fine. Ciha Soults and the firm were cited for fraudulent practices and financial irresponsibility.

Linn County to pay $31670 in back overtime to assistant
Linn County administrative assistant Kim Honn will receive 31670 in back pay after county officials determined she worked unpaid overtime over two years. HR director Lisa Powell said Honn was misclassified as salaried and not eligible for overtime. The Board of Supervisors approved the payment, similar to prior back pay approved for sheriff deputies in September.
