Newhall grain elevator takes over Brandon Agri Service assets
Cedar Valley Inc. has assumed all producer obligations of Brandon Agri Service Inc after its grain dealer and warehouse license was revoked and temporarily suspended on Feb 9 for alleged violations. Brandon’s attorney said the takeover ensures no producer losses and no claims on the grain indemnity fund. An Iowa Department of Agriculture audit found shortages and irregular collateral warehouse receipts, calling Brandon’s net worth into question. Erickson noted operations will continue as before with Cedar Valley owning the business.
