Iowa lawmakers face a 1991 agenda centered on abortion policy and reapportionment after the 1990 elections. Proposals include home schooling, tax policy, education funding, minimum wage alignment with federal standards, and environmental and health care reforms.
Health Care For All a coalition of over 40 Iowa groups rallied in Des Moines to back a national campaign. About 50 attendees from farms churches and senior centers attended at Wesley United Methodist Church as Kathy Solko urged reform to help low income families receive care. Mary Bergstrom organizer said rallies will occur across the nation in April as part of a 20 state effort aiming for statewide programs and a possible umbrella federal statute for all states.
