Police make cocaine arrest in Marion tavern lot
Milton D. Case, 34, of Cedar Rapids, was indicted for distributing a quarter ounce of cocaine in the parking lot of a Marion tavern on May 6. Larry D. Gallo, 36, of the same Cedar Rapids address, was indicted for failing to disclose information about the transaction. Both were charged by a federal grand jury in Cedar Rapids and will be served with an order to appear on a date to be set.

LaSalle High School senior Chris Blake 18 daughter of Wayne and Sue Blake was named Iowa winner in Americas Homecoming Queen competition at Des Moines after interviews and gala gown event. She earns an expense paid Hawaii trip and a $100 scholarship with national finals in July. national winner gets further scholarship and Europe trip. She became eligible by being LaSalle homecoming queen last October and was one of 38 Iowa finalists at the Airport Hilton. The pageant followed a state contest held Saturday and Sunday with judging and gown appearances.

Iowa Ham to open Oelwein plant in old transit warehouse

James Hillsman, 33, of 1212 15th St SE, was arrested on assault and interference with official acts after entering a Cedar Rapids fire station at 2416 Mount Vernon Rd SE and threatening three firefighters with a pair of scissors and a wooden club around 12 35 p.m. He is held in Linn County Jail on a 270 bond. A separate note mentions a convocation lecture at Cornell College and another report about a snowblower theft, plus tax evasion charges against Linda M and Frederick Henry Jr linked to Happy Hour Health Spa. The pair are named in indictments and a warrant awaits arrest.
