Contempt Hearing Proceeds In P&G Case

Federal Judge Edward McManus hears evidence on whether Cedar Rapids attorney Tom Riley violated an Iowa extortion statute by distributing sealed exhibits from a toxic shock verdict against Procter & Gamble. The hearing also saw a courtroom closure to protect trade secrets, with Calder testifying about efforts to withdraw the unsealing request. Calder and Riley described alleged actions as extortion and a protective order was cited to shield documents. Calder will be cross examined as the hearing resumes next Thursday.
