Theft of Vet Pay Charged in Chicago
Three young men were arrested on charges of stealing about $10,000 in veterans mustering out pay terminal leave and other service disbursements. Robert L. Hunter 29 worked at the railway mail section of the Chicago post office and identified Fort Sheridan checks. He turned them over to Cornelius Luckett 23 and Hardie Luckett 25 who altered discharge cards and cashed the checks. Hunter claimed $1,000 went to a car and $700 remained in the bank.
