Alburnett Man Hurt Seriously in Highway 20 Crash
Manchester dispatch reports 53 year old Guy Hall of Alburnett sustained serious injuries in a Tuesday night auto crash on highway 20 fifteen miles east of Manchester. He suffered a possible skull fracture and a severe leg injury and was taken by ambulance to a Dubuque hospital after his car overturned and he was tossed from the vehicle. A passing motorist found Hall near the overturned car following loss of control near an underpass.

Des Moines AP report says Merrill Hoopes a 47 year old Grimes farmer died after being run over by a tractor his wife was driving. Deputy Jim Mosier said Hoopes walked in front of the tractor and Mrs Hoopes lost control when her foot slipped from the clutch.

Fire Destroys Chez Paree Nightclub in Carter Lake Iowa
A Wednesday morning blaze destroyed the Chez Paree nightclub in Carter Lake Iowa near Omaha. Fire crews arrived after a truck blaze and battled the flames for hours with four companies on site. The cause was not immediately determined. The club had been cited in a Kansas City grand jury report on a Midwest gambling empire.
