Sony M1 camcorder review highlights hybrid shooting limits
The M1 offers a 3X optical zoom, 5 MP stills, and memory card storage but ships with a small 32 MB card. Its hybrid shooting records a brief pre and post clip when capturing a still, yet the low resolution looks grainy. No optical viewfinder remains a drawback and Memory Stick format limits availability and raises cost. MPEG4 compatibility is incomplete without extra software. The device suits users who want seamless stills to short video, not pure still photography.
