Oklahoma killer Hart linked to Camp Scott slayings
Investigators tied an escaped convict Hart to the 1977 Camp Scott murders near Tulsa after finding two bloodstained mattresses and a bloody footprint at the girls tent site. The victims were 8 and 9 year old girls found in northeastern Oklahoma with signs of sexual assault and bludgeoning. Hart, a fugitive since 1973, was captured about 40 miles from Camp Scott. Wise noted his woodsman skills could let him hide in the eastern Oklahoma hills where relatives avoided police. The case ties to a long history of outlaw activity in Cookson Hills.
