Tower of David Abandoned Caracas Skyscraper Becomes Slum Haven
In Caracas Venezuela the 45 story Tower of David once meant to be a financial hub became a squatters home after 1994. About 3000 residents pay a 32 dollar monthly fee for basic security and shared services. The tower offers views and a sense of safety amid surrounding crime. Residents describe more order inside than outside and corridors show a cooperative self governance.
