Money incentive added to Cottage Grove bridge project
Cedar Rapids plans a $2,500 daily incentive for the contractor rebuilding Cottage Grove Avenue Bridge over Indian Creek. The 40 year old span will be widened from two to three lanes with pedestrian paths. Project aims to finish in 135 days, with penalties for delays and bonuses for early completion. Construction would start in about a year with costs estimated at $800,000 to $900,000 and 80 percent state grant funding. Public hearing set for April 19.
