Wellmark exits Iowa ACA market and exchange
Des Moines insurer Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield will withdraw from Iowa's ACA exchange and stop selling ACA compliant plans starting Jan. 1. The move follows about 90 million dollars in losses from the Iowa individual market and a 48 percent premium rise for those plans this year, affecting roughly 21 400 enrollees. Cover age remains through year end, with pre ACA plans and employer plans unaffected.
