Mount Vernon man jailed for tax evasion in Iowa ruling
Charles M. Allen of Mount Vernon received four months in prison after pleading guilty to one count each of failing to file a federal tax return and filing a false withholding certificate. Judge Harold Vietor noted a genuine attitude shift but stressed deterrence and the necessity of tax collection. Allen evaded over $10,000 for 1980 to 1982 and will begin serving May 5.
