Also refused to concur in HF 1294 amendments imposing a franchise tax on banks and lenders. Several birth, service, and custody notices follow with names and locations.
Multiple notices list funeral services in various locations. Schutte s Postville Keswick Hazley Stephenson 72 and Victor Heitman 25 have services at West Clermont Lutheran Fellmer s United Methodist Powell s Trinity United Church of Christ with arrangements and call times. Funeral has been postponed for one entry.

Geraldine Marie Washington died Wednesday in Iowa City after a long illness. A Cedar Rapids resident for 26 years, she was born April 19, 1924 in Perry and married Ray H. Washington April 26, 1947. She belonged to Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Surviving: husband Ray. daughter Donna Rae Washington. stepfather and mother William and ?. Turner East chapel service at 3 p.m. Monday conducted by Rev LeRoy White. Burial at Oak Hill cemetery. Friends may call at Turner East until 2:30 p.m. Monday.
One person died and several were injured in Cedar Rapids during a three inch snowstorm that snarled traffic after 4 p.m. Ten crashes occurred, two with injuries. Power failures hit Cedar Rapids and North Liberty, with about 200 homes in Rolling Greens and 100 SE customers affected. Restorations followed as crews faced poor rural road conditions. Flights were canceled at Cedar Rapids airport until 4:30 p.m. Thursday though some air service resumed.
A Cedar Rapids traffic crash on Center Point road NE near the railroad viaduct left Severson dead and injured Miss McKay and Ed Stenzel. McKay and Stenzel were treated and released from St Luke's hospital. Todd and Jay Snell were injured, with Todd in poor condition and Jay in fair condition at Mercy hospital. Charges pending as investigators review the wreck.
Vida L Feinberg widow of Joseph Feinberg aged 62 of 65 Fourteenth Avenue SW Cedar Rapids died in Iowa City after a long illness. Born Des Moines January 14 1908 she lived in Cedar Rapids since 1957. Survived by son Terry Feinberg Cedar Rapids granddaughter three sisters Mrs Merle Lewis Mr Vernon and Mrs L Roy Hartman and Lorna Colbert Cedar Rapids and four brothers Cecil Alfred Walter and Dennis Jones all of Cedar Rapids. Memorial services 130 Saturday at Kuba funeral home east by Rev A T Washington. Burial Oak Hill. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 Thursday.
Memorial services for E Dewey Ondler were held at First Lutheran Church at 1 30 p m Friday with Rev George Carlson officiating. Burial followed at Cedar Memorial cemetery. Turner East conducted arrangements. The family suggested contributions to the First Lutheran church memorial fund or the Heart Fund. Mary Dankert services were at Turner Chapel West at 3 p m Thursday led by Dr John M Jensen. Burial was in Linwood cemetery.
Washington High School's National Honor Society chapter inducted 82 new members this week, including 49 seniors and 33 juniors. Inductions occurred at Monday ceremonies with junior inductees listed and seniors named among the 82 newcomers.
Larry VanHoe, 19, without a listed address, asked for a preliminary hearing in municipal court Thursday on a sale of narcotic drugs count. His hearing is set for Monday at 3 p.m. He is accused of selling marijuana to an undercover police agent on March 25 and remains in custody in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
Mary Jeffries of 515 Fourteenth Street NE pleaded innocent in municipal court to an assault and battery charge. Her trial is set for June 1. The information, signed by James Daniels, states Miss Jeffries slapped his daughter several times at the YWCA on March 21.
Two men appeared in municipal court Thursday and demanded preliminary hearings on charges of breaking and entering. Hearings are set for April 16 at 2 p.m. Basil L. Harris Jr., 22, of 1328 First Street SW, and Shannon D. Ashby, 21, of 1903 Fourth Avenue SE, are charged with breaking into Michael Kronewitter's apartment at 1630 Park Towne Lane NE and taking a $700 tape deck and $300 in bonds.
Marilyn Blackcloud, 21, of 3373 Third Avenue SE, appeared in municipal court on uttering a forged instrument and petty larceny. She demanded a preliminary hearing April 13 for a forged check of 41.44 at May's drug store on Jan 11 and pled innocent to petty larceny with trial set for May 13. She is charged with stealing a purse from Carol McGaughey on March 27 and remains in custody with a 1610 dollar bond.
Canada banned sale and export of perch and pickerel from Lake Erie due to mercury contamination. Fishermen may still catch but must freeze catches for mercury testing. all commercial catches seized. Ontario ordered mills to halt mercury processes and stop discharging mercury, with cross border talks and governor level coordination urged to curb lake pollution.
Cindy Voss Witt, 20, of North English, died Wednesday after a one car crash north of Webster. employed by Square D Cedar Rapids. Survived by daughter Tammy Renee, parents Don and Yoss, two brothers Michael and Scott, and grandparents Wayne Wade all of North English. Services Saturday at 1 30 p m United Methodist church.
The Iowa health commission upheld the revocation of the Good Samaritan Nursing Home of Cedar Rapids license following a January 26 notice after Cedar Rapids officials reported failure to comply with automatic sprinkler regulations. The facility at 1601 Second Avenue SE appealed the decision.
In Cedar Rapids federal court a Dubuque firm must reimburse 11 employees $7,451 in back wages for unpaid minimum wage. The judgment against W. S. Sheppley and Co orders payment at least $1.60 per hour in the future and requires proper wage and hour recordkeeping.
Rome city officials are considering a move to paint taxis yellow following Florence and other Italian cities. The change would end the traditional green and black color scheme, making cabs easier to spot in traffic.

Betty Ann Dannewitz, 33, of 1415 Bever avenue SE, pled guilty to two counts of falsely procuring prescriptive drugs. She received two consecutive suspended six month jail terms after appearing before Judge Robert Osmundson. The charges arise from forged prescriptions used to obtain drugs at Cedar Rapids pharmacies on Sept. 22, 1967, and Jan. 17.
