Phonetic Notes Spark Divorce Case in Los Angeles
Mrs. Phil Brier was granted a divorce from her salesman husband after he received letters written in phonetics claiming love. The wife alleged the writings were authored by secretary Bertha Havns. One message claimed undying love and devotion, phrased in awkward phonetic lines. A separate notice lists a lost item, a black wood case with papers, offering a reward.
