Private for profit jail in Whatcom County opens doors to revenue
Whatcom County runs a mini open county jail owned by Greg and Mary Lee Rustand. The facility houses about 50 inmates with 10 staff and operates with county control on policy and discipline. Inmates pay $28 per day, compared with $50 in the standard county jail.
