CHICAGO AP reports Sharon Percy's step grandmother Emily Guyer died in Evanston hospital on the wedding day of Sharon to John D Rockefeller IV. Guyer fainted Friday at the Chicago Art Institute. funeral arrangements follow. Vatican City reports Pope Paul VI and Vice-President Humphrey met in private to discuss speeding a Viet Nam truce and peace settlement. Humphrey praised the Pope’s peace efforts as security forces kept demonstrators at bay in Rome and Florence during the three day visit.
FBI Director J Edgar Hoover denounces campus filthy speech movements and the author of a controversial play in a foreword to the FBI law enforcement bulletin. He condemns groups aiming to erase ethical norms and warns the nation cannot tolerate lawlessness and obscenity on campuses.
Washington AP reports union and management negotiators met with federal mediators Saturday to resolve the strike against three major networks. Mutual Broadcasting System announced a settlement Friday night with the AFTRA, with newsmen returning to work. Four convicts escaped Hopemont state hospital and held 13 family members prisoner for 10 hours before forcing a man to drive them across West Virginia.
