Richard McLaughlin of 1022 Tenth Street NW faced a charge shift from reckless driving to failure to have car under control after a Jan 20 crash on Mt. Vernon Avenue near Seventeenth Street SE. Telephone Call Brings Police To Woman's Aid
An elderly woman Lydia Evans of 116 Sixth Street NE called police at 4 25 am requesting help after she fell while letting her dog out. Officers Felix Barta and Tom Gaines arrived, found her on the floor clasping the phone, and assisted her back to bed. She appeared not ill or injured and said she would be all right.

Two motorists fined for reckless driving
Kazemias Lionas, 39, of Twenty-first avenue SW, and Fred Leaf, of Anamosa, were fined $50 and costs in police court on reckless driving charges. Lionas collided with a taxicab driven by Joe Frasinger at Third street and Tenth avenue SE after Lionas turned left as the cab approached. Leaf’s car rammed a traffic signal at First avenue and First street W.

Used Clothing Needed To Fill Czech Shipment
The Federation of Czech Groups in Cedar Rapids asks for used clothing to add to a shipment to Czechoslovakia, joining 250 pairs of shoes donated by the Black Brothers in Chelsea. A total 117 crates of used clothing, shoes and food have already been sent and distributed. Donations are welcomed this week only at the C.S.P.S. hall between 2 and 5 p.m.

Joe Campagna son of Lena B Campagna 1542 Fourth avenue SE joined KFQD Anchorage Alaska as writer and announcer after 38 months in the South Pacific as a cryptographer with the Army Air Forces.
