Work resumed on irrigation project near Casper Wyoming

The Johnson Irrigation Company restarted ditch construction with ten teams and scrapers. Five miles of the ditch are already washed and water will be turned in for next year’s crop. Government segregation delays loom due to Carey Act paperwork. Henry A. Johnson said the company aims to finish soon to supply irrigation for about 14 000 acres near Casper, boosting settlement and local commerce. Perpetual water rights will be sold at 40 per acre, with ample demand for farm products in the area.

Lander Man Wins Backing Contest at Idaho Wild West Fest

Stub Farlow of Lander won first prize in backing contests at a wild west celebration in Idaho. He took a $600 saddle on exhibition at the depot and earned second prize in roping. Farlow co-owns Farlow Bros Wild West show and Indian village prominent in Casper’s Fourth of July celebration.

County Officials Plan Highway Link Between Casper and Medicine Bow

County Commissioner D C Jones and County Clerk L B Major of Rawlins met Na rona County commissioners to adjust taxes between Carbon and Natrona counties. They were joined by J as Cloase and Roy Jones to locate a desirable automobile route between Casper and Medicine Bow. Carbon county residents pledge cooperation for the road.

Wild West Show Delights Salt Creek Crowd

On Sunday afternoon Salt Creek held a Wild West event featuring a wild horse race a quarter mile and bucking horse contest. Alger's horse beat Sheperson by half a length in the main race while Milk stopped a near finish. Curley Ate tell and Hamel Boyington gave notable rides and Snyder won the purse. Also notes of Missou Hines arriving from Buffalo and Good Roads Day on September 7. A dance at the school house drew twenty five couples Tuesday evening.

Gushers Reported At Salt Creek And Section 2

The Midwest Oil Company drilled in Salt Creek section 25 and brought in a gusher at eleven o clock Saturday night flowing 20 barrels daily. Hanley and Bird reported a separate gusher in section 2 last Friday with a flow of 1000 barrels per day. The Salt Creek well was capped immediately.

Federal judge rules Liu Kum cannot be deported

Judge J A Hiner decides Liu Kum a Chinese merchant with a six month permit remains in the United States. Arrested in Casper where he worked as a waiter, no wages shown to remove merchant status. Restaurant owner says Kum helped briefly until a regular waiter could be found.

Wyoming Baptists Convene at Gillette Convention

The Wyoming Baptist State convention met in Gillette with delegates from across the state. Casper delegates Rev J F Blodgett and Rev Hopton preached the convention sermon Move Forward. Blodgett re elected corresponding secretary and general missionary. Wm Dietrich chosen treasurer.

Farewell Sermon Ends Kingsley Tenure at Local Church

Ira W Kingsley preached his farewell at the Methodist church on Sunday evening before a large crowd. He reviewed three years of pastoral work and noted new members added that night, with four more joining the church. Kingsley plans to leave soon for Sheridan and his family will follow. Equipment for the big canals aiding Wind River irrigation will be shipped from Denver to Shoshoni soon to begin the project.
