Clearmont Buffalo Line Promises Wyoming Rail Link

Sheridan reports the Clearmont Buffalo railroad under construction may connect with the Burlington at Clearmont and Chicago & Northwestern at Casper via a north south Wyoming route. Promoter Charles B. Duffy says Buffalo will not be a stop, graders are at work and rails and ties are ready. The line would unlock Powder River country and Casper oil fields, shortening routes to Denver and enabling new traffic growth.

Fire damages Ernest Gerber home on Beech Street

A Sunday evening fire at 414 North Beech Street, owned by Ernest Gerber and occupied by Jacob Huff, destroyed a five room dwelling and its contents. The blaze, starting around an overheated stove, spread through the roof and three rooms before the fire department contained it. No one was home. damage estimated at 1000 with no insurance.

Local High School Triumphs Over Thermopolis in Season Opener

In the Colseum Friday, the Thermopolis quintet fell 31 to 16 to the local High School team. Leigh McGrath led the locals with scoring and Zeek Hryan starred in floor work. A large crowd attended, with a postgame dance and a neat sum raised.

Fined and Banished From City in Saloon Shooting

Jim Brown, a Black man, faced a preliminary hearing after shooting John Davis in the arm and Frank Mayhew in the head at the Stock Exchange Saloon. Davis testified Brown stole a ten dollar bill before the confrontation. Brown claimed self defense. Judge Tubbs fined Brown 640 and suspended the sentence for hours to allow his departure from town.

Natrona County Electric plans steam heat expansion in Casper

The Natrona County Electric Company intends to furnish steam heat to most business houses and many residences in Casper. Plans include laying mains from the light plant along Center Street to the court yard and laterals between the two poles, extending westward several blocks.

Nelsons Addition Opens North Casper Real Estate Market

Nelson has platted a tract north of the Burlington yards named Nelsons Addition now on the Casper market. Seventeen lots sold on opening day as demand rises for close in location near the business district. Telephone service exists and an electric transmission line will be built. streets are being graded. Sales of 200 lots start at 7 to 150 each with easy terms.

William F. Henning Granted a Divorce

William F. Henning, a Casper plumbing contractor, was granted a divorce by Judge Winter on November 1 after filing in October. The case named G A Ukenesky as correspondent. Mrs. Henning did not appear, was represented by Judge Nichols, and reportedly received a $5,000 cash settlement with all alimony claims released. Details remained sealed.

Natrona County Teachers Institute Opens With 43 Attendees

The Natrona County Teachers Institute opened Monday at Central School with 43 teachers enrolled. University of Wyoming instructors led sessions on agriculture, discipline, and vocational guidance, plus departmental meetings covering high school, graded, and rural work.
