Fatal gas fumes kill three miners at Williams-Loman mine
Fumes from a gasoline engine in the Williams-Loman copper mine on Copper Mountain near Shoshoni caused the deaths of three men last Saturday. Wm A Horn and Joe Johns were found near a 300 foot tunnel end where a gasoline engine operated. Manager Thomas G Smith entered seeking them and did not return. Ernest Berger rescued Smith but could not save him. Horn was to be buried in Nebraska, Johns elsewhere, and all were longtime Shoshoni residents.
