Casper considers district high school plan for town and county

A Casper business men’s meeting discussed establishing a district high school to use state land funds for setup and lower taxes. Professor Matheny cited successful district schools, outlining a four year program with languages, business course and science labs. A next meeting will invite trustees from surrounding districts to boost town and county education.

Wyoming Flock Disease Shows Improvement Says State Veterinarian

State Veterinarian Pflaeging, in town Sunday, told a Press reporter that central Wyoming diseased flocks are improving due to active treatment but the work remains unfinished. He added sheep powder could help if used with common sense but not cure without direct external treatment to sores. He linked cattle mouth disease west of here, especially in young stock, to a form of diphtheria or necrotic stomatitis from the same germ.

Death of Miss Sarah June Edmunds at Nicolaysen

Last night at the home of Mr P C Nicolaysen Miss Sarah June Edmunds died from rheumatism of the heart. She leaves a sister in this country eighty miles from Lander. The funeral will be held at the Episcopal church tomorrow at 2 o clock. The remains go to the local cemetery for burial.

Banner Resigns From State Sheep Commission

Harold Banner filed with the governor his resignation from the state board of sheep commissioners. He cited discord with fellow members and opposition to the re elected secretary George Walker as the reason. Banner said reorganization of the board was needed by central district shepherds and resigned to avoid remaining a non entity.

Grand Central Hotel Reopens Under New Management in Casper

Natrona county news reports the Grand Central in Casper opens under five year lease to E C Orchard with Bob Turner in charge of the hotel raft, David Greenwold at the desk, Gaytimes and W P Martindale, Jack Farmer as chef, Miss Sarah McLaughlin back from Denver to run the dining room, and W E Welch behind the bar by day. The interior is redecorated and efforts are promised to make it the finest eating place northwest of Omaha. Casper congratulates itself on this major local upgrade.

Mass Meeting for District High School Organizing

A mass meeting will be held at the town hall Monday night February 15 to organize a district high school. Attendees are urged to be present at 8 o clock sharp with committee members T Butler Alex Mill and L D Scott coordinating the effort.

Miss Grace Misters and Daniel B P Clark wed at noon at Mrs. W D Blattenberg’s home with Judge Tubbs officiating. The bride and groom are from Free land Bates Hole country and plan to reside on a ranch after a nuptial feast with relatives and friends.

Shoshoni Hold-up Inmate Robbery Brings Hearing

Ed Lacey a Casper gambler, after heavy losses at a twenty one game, returned to the saloon with a six shooter and robbed the inmates. Johnny Hays, who runs the game, says Lacey took $482 while Lacey claims the loss was only $200. Lacey was captured and had a hearing yesterday.

Kidd Advised Delay Return Pending Attorney Decision

The report indicates that Kidd chose to postpone returning until an attorney provides guidance, with no firm date set for his return. The source emphasizes the awaiting legal counsel before further action.

County to take over courthouse as planned

Attorneys Shipp were asked to prepare the papers and wire Mes srs Esmay and Randal in Douglas to return. Natrona county will take possession of the courthouse at noon and officers will move into their rooms once furniture is in place.

State officials urge Casper to provide an entire block for a planned state hospital. A March 1909 letter notes a site decision needed before a April visit by board members.
