Casper visitors led by Minor and Roland held Douglas to 8 runs while Lightner hit for two runs in a 8 to 6 defeat. QC M Elgin and A E Lightner left Tuesday for a trip along the Chalmers Detroit roadster to visit grading camps on the B and M line and boost for the Fourth celebration. They plan to attend a boxing contest at Lander before returning home. Robby Fountain's show lacked Casper attendance for the afternoon but drew a full house at night with Counterfeit the pony performing as in prior years.
A late afternoon electric storm brought several lightning bolts to the downtown area. Linemen on electric wires were burned on the hands and W B Millett sustained severe burns along his back while leaning against a drugstore awning rod. No lives were lost or buildings set afire.
H M Fennimore, general manager of Rocky Mountain Power Telephone, visits Casper and Lander to announce a house to house canvass aiming to add 150 phones to the local exchange. Casper reports 316 phones in use and a future Link Telephone line to Rawlins. Miss Silas Bishop resigns. Helen Jonorneux fills the vacancy.
An elderly man named Frank Thome died after a day in a comatose state following police and bartender involvement in his earlier drunken condition. The county jury found the death due to a brain clot after the bursting of a blood vessel, with no evidence of foul play or bartender Krelman’s blame.
In district court last week an injunction barred California oil representatives led by Wm. Fitzhugh from lands in Salt Creek claimed by both parties. The Dutch company began hauling new machinery this week and plans continued development. The trespass hearing for Kerbert Lane and Sheffner moves from justice court to the next district court session. C Kerbert C M A deRijk van der Gracht and Otis report quiet at the wells after returning from Ball Creek.
A fire Friday at the Cup and Hall caused lower room damage before chemical extinguishers were used. The crews avoided water damage and halted the blaze quickly. Loss is reported in the hundreds of dollars. origin remains unknown.
