Burlington Yards Expansion Near Casper Reported

The Burlington company plans large yards and track work at Casper as part of expanding to handle engines and cars for a new division. Work includes grading a reservoir site near Welton, paving with shale, and initiating track laying once grade progresses. A later shooting incident near Casper left John Huntley injured and a fugitive sought by the sheriff.

Wreck Narrowly Averted Under Weather Damage

A rain washed away a bridge piling on a railroad crossing the Muskrat run 61X miles west of Shoshpni. Section men spotted the damage and halted service. Passengers were moved to an evening train and the Casper bound service returned. A nearby pile driving crew repaired the damage near Last Springs.

Man Arrested for Old Robbery and Escape Attempt

A man linked to a three year old robbery at a confectionery store and an escape attempt near Casper was captured by Sheriff Meflaer and held for trial. The accused faced a preliminary hearing on the charges as the case moved toward court proceedings.

Lander Band and Boosters Plan Casper Welcome

The Lander brass band and boosters will travel 150 miles by wagon in four days to Casper for a convention celebration. The 24 piece band, led by Guy G. Earl, will be greeted by Casper officials and provide music for four days of events, including a sham battle and Indian band participation.

Casper High School honors seven graduates in commencement

The Irre theater hosted Casper High School’s graduation exercises for seven seniors. The program included the chorus rendition Wyoming, a Salutatory by Kyron Dumm, a commencement address by Prof. J C Creager, and a valedictory by Hazel Noma Adams. Five diplomas were presented by Aim Hirose Hemingway as the board president, with remarks from Prof. T D McDonough. The benediction followed, and guests offered congratulations. Special Accommodations for Ladies announced Casper Fourth of July events with Berry House reserved for women attendees.
