The State Volunteer Firemen's association organized in Casper on Saturday July 24 1909 with a Casper delegate crew voting to hold the next meeting there A Casper band concert Dutch lunch and a parade of fire departments followed and delegates urged broader city participation The Rocky Mountain Bell Telephone Co reorganized July 1 with three departments and Lula Bruce named district traffic manager and plans for a new exchange in Shoshoni were announced The slate lists James Moriarity Green River as president and H C Grooms Sheridan as vice president

First B M Train Tomorrow From Crawford to Shoshoni

The first Burlington train to run over the Chicago and North Western line from Crawford to Shoshoni will arrive in our city tomorrow at 10 oclock in the morning. General Manager G W Hold dredge of Chicago will be aboard with a large number of prominent B M officials to inspect the country along the line. The train will stop at Shoshoni overnight and return Sunday morning. It will be a novel sight and a welcome sign of a different railroad presence in the area.

Bear hunted on Casper Mountain yields 400 pound redacted

Blake Horn killed a black bear on Casper Mountain near Garden Creek Falls last Friday after finding it in a deer herd. The 400 pound, two year old bear was dressed at the Huskey market and examined by many locals before the hide was tanned into a rug for Mr Horn.

McDonough Named Superintendent for City and County High Schools

At a joint meeting of the city and county boards Prof. T B McDonough was chosen to supervise both city and district high schools for the coming year. He comes from Montrose Colorado where he led schools for six years and is a Denver University graduate. He will relocate with his wife and 15 year old daughter to Casper once a home is secured.

State Redmen Convention Set for August in Our City

Last week the local Redmen lodge was notified that the state convention will be held in our city on August 5 and 6. Delegates from Wyoming tribes will attend and conduct order business. The Todge lodge, with 125 members, plans to host visiting brothers with a large dog eat and smoker as a feature event.

Muggsy Shoels Defeated by Frankie Harris in Cimarron Bout

Muggsy Shoels, riding recent notoriety from a win over Kid Dalton on the 5th at Lander, faced Frankie Harris in Cimarron New Mexico and was beaten by Harris in all fifteen rounds. Shoels outweighed Harris by eight pounds but failed to score.

Cosgriff Holdings Sold in Major Wyoming Sheep Deal

Rawlins outfit Cullen Sheep company bought about 90 000 head of sheep deeded land ranches and stores from the Cosgriff brothers of Rawlins Fort Steele Cheyenne and Salt Lake City in a deal reportedly exceeding 500000. The Cosgriffs also control banking interests across Wyoming and Utah.
