Attempt to wreck train near Wolton halted
A youth named Phil Watson, about twenty, tried to wreck a passenger train near Wolton by placing obstacles and rocks on the track. Engineer J O Smith stopped the train in time. Watson confessed to the act and thefts in the Big Horn mountains. He was jailed in Casper and may face life imprisonment or death, with possible leniency depending on railroad officials.

Hanley and Company, recently active in Salt Creek, struck oil about noon Sunday on the northeast quarter of section 3 townslip 20 range TW. A nitroglycerine test at 1240 feet triggered immediate flow estimated 400 to 500 barrels per day. The firm controls about 3000 acres and plans another well and rapid development. Other area activity includes J C Donnell moving a rig to the Whedale ranch, Mountain Oil resuming Castle Creek work, and Wyoming Grade Oil starting on section 28.
