Commercial Club Organized In Casper Following Mass Meeting

Mayor Kimball calls for a citizens meeting at the courthouse to form a commercial club in Casper. Roy W. Schenck outlines immigration work to inspire the effort. A nine member board of directors is elected to organize and elect a president secretary and treasurer with further meetings planned for February 10.

Heavyweight rematch engages Weber against Nelson at handicap bout

Hank Weber, the local heavyweight, meets Nelson in a rematch on Monday night. The bout is a handicap contest with Nelson needing to beat Weber three times in forty minutes.

Horse Thief Captured Near Casper

Al Darling alias James Davis stole a horse from John Flynn of Douglas last Sunday while the freighting outfit camped on LaPrele creek. He fled toward Casper but was intercepted near Big Muddy, arrested, and jailed. a saddle and stolen horse were recovered.

Blake Miller Company Opens In Caspers

The Blake Miller Company opens this week as wholesale and retail dealers in saddles and harness. President and GM Mr Miller is an expert saddle maker with fourteen years in the trade. ALC Kaker of Omaha leads the harness department and ES Krone supervises saddle department.

Deaths: John Burke 32 Dies of Tuberculosis

John Burke aged 32 died Wednesday morning at his mother Mrs Tobias Burke 198 North Main Street after a two year battle with tuberculosis He had lived in Decatur since moving from Vestlaie seven years ago He was born February 15 1883 in Vestlaie and was a farmer a member of St Patricks Catholic Church He is survived by his mother and many brothers and sisters including J W Burke Seattle M S Burke Peoria William Ivesdale Thomas Casper Wyo Charity Ed Canton Miss Margaret Burke and Mrs A M Willard Funeral plans will be announced later

Musicale planned by Ladies' Aid at M E church

The Ladies Aid of the M E church will hold a church musicale on Tuesday evening February 11 with local talent. Admission is 50 cents for adults and 25 cents for school children. The program features male quartets, duets, solos, and readings by local performers, starting at eight o'clock.

Engines Burning Oil. Master Mechanic Reports Tests in Casper

Master Mechanic C. Graham of the Northwestern reports engines on the Casper division are being oil fueled after examinations. Ten engines between Chadron and Lander have been tested with satisfactory results and plans to equip lines on the Wyoming and Black Hills divisions with oil burning. Large supply tanks are erected at Lander Long Pine Chadron with more to follow on the Black Hills line.

Eagles Lodge Party Delights With Music and Roses

The Eagles lodge held a Tuesday evening dance and supper at the Odd Fellows ball to good attendance and social success. Music was splendid and Moor enjoyed by all while each guest received an American Beauty rose as a dress adornment. Supper in the lodge room was organized by Messrs Jobin Hammon Fred Koodde and G H Langhoop.

Franco-Wyoming NI reports new oil gusher and refinery progress

The Franco-Wyoming company struck a major gusher on Section 4 of the Dutch property and plans rapid development. Acting General Manager Sierre Humbert and A. Lane visited the field to inspect the new well while another is nearly complete. Refinery work in Geneva progresses with fifty-five workers and a new boiler. Deputy Sheriff Wm Tripeny bought a Park addition residence for future construction.

The Wind River ceded lands dispute hinges on the Wyoming State Land Board fulfilling Interior Secretary promises. A written Morton relinquishment and water-right handover backed by a board resolution are needed, with lands to return to the government if no buyer emerges within a year.
