Fire Damages Kimball Block Basement Blaze
A basement fire on Center street in the Kimball Block was detected around one o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Oil leaking from a feed pipe to the oil burner ignited by hot coals from a water heater caused the blaze. Casper fire company quickly extinguished the fire with prompt action. The winged saloon portion of the building suffered about 0 damage, with most losses limited to that area.

Local mock trial ends with murder verdict and hanging

Burlington railroad buys more city properties this week
Representatives of the Burlington railroad added several parcels to its holdings. The Maggie Alltrance property sold for 67000 to Geo MH Cross acquired hire lots for 1500, purchased about three and a half years ago at a loss to the former owner. No deal yet closed for Arlington hotel or Amspoker barn though negotiations continue. Rumor points to depot at Finn and Oak streets as Jets owned by Thos Bamford may be condemned. A well known gentleman recently returned from the east offered to bet on the depot being north of Oak street.

Of 64 fed last winter, 54 returned to Laughlin’s ranch, while others range near Rawhide Nuttes. Plans include winter feed stations to keep elk from returning to ranches and stocking more ranges. Aims also include extending the elk and antelope closed season and stocking Platte River with black bass.
