Second Annual Iowa Picnic Brings Relatives and Games to Garden Creek
The second annual Iowa Picnic at Garden Creek near Casper Mountain drew former residents of Iowa to an all day gathering. A big sixteen passenger auto ferried attendees, long tables were set beneath trees with cooks and waiters serving. After a social hour the crowd joined a large dinner then athletic events featured ladies and fat man races, a three legged race, ball throwing and boxing. Notable prizes went to Mrs Walter King Miss Loreina Holman I. A. Spicer and Mrs J F Lewis. The oldest and youngest Iowans present were recognized and the event concluded with a grand ball game. Attendance was smaller than last year yet all enjoyed the day and plans for next year began.

After four dry holes last year the English funded company flags three rigs in the field with one moved about a mile from the earlier well. Cowderoy maintains the site is still right for a major strike as operations restart early this week.

R. J. Long, who moved from Cleveland Oklahoma to Gasper, died Wednesday afternoon after entering Nations Supply Or. He leaves a widow and a five year old son. His mother Mrs Long of Bluffton Indiana and his wife’s mother Mrs Walter of Hed Key, lod, were with him this past month. The body was shipped to Hiwifton Indiana for burial, with family members accompanying it and not returning to Gasper.

Bootleggers Arrested Near Burlington Track Camp
John Loess and Wim Lee colored were arrested Sunday evening at Wucknam on a complaint they were peddling whiskey to workers at the Burlington track camp. Lieas bought whiskey in Casper Saturday, bottled it, and later driven to Bucknum in a drunken condition. the horse died after arrival. Sheriff Sheffner brought them to Casper. Lee claimed innocence, saying he was merely invited to accompany. Also listed are Casper teachers for the school term. several names and positions included. Johnmeon and another man jailed a month ago for bootlegging on the Burlington grade at Armenia were released after twenty days and paying prosecution costs.

John W. Young of Gleerock a noted prize fighter known as Bull Young was killed Saturday in Los Angeles after an eleventh round knockout by Willard in a twenty round bout. Doctors found cerebral hemorrhage from concussion during surgery and he did not recover. He was the son of Nowak Young, raised at Gleerock, well known in Wyoming ranching circles, with funeral arrangements announced locally.
