Picnic party escapes serious mishap near Garden Creek
A Friday picnic party including Mr. and Mrs. Wilmarth and several relatives had a near disaster when the neck yoke slipped on a three seated carriage near Garden Creek falls. Mrs. Wilmarth was struck by horse heels but all others escaped serious injury. the rig was wrecked and the group returned to town in a new carriage amid rain.

Wins on a Walk to Pathfinder Dam
The week’s highlight was Lou Price’s wager walk from Grand Central hotel to Pathfinder dam. He left at 7 am Tuesday, completed the 53 mile trip in under 48 hours, arriving at 6:20 am yesterday with a signed paper. Price claims 6:15 am but signed later due to lack of help. he strained a tendon and finished in great pain, losing ten pounds.

New Passenger Station Planned For Northwestern Depot
Plans for a two story Northwestern depot call for Omaha pressed brick and dressed stone, 108 by 41 feet, north of the present depot. The first floor will house waiting rooms and ticket windows, with offices above, plus a platform extending 500 feet west. A park will replace oil warehouses east of the depot. Work is expected to start this fall. Local contractors seek bid opportunities on structure and services including heating and plumbing.
