Burlington plans a complete low grade line expansion

The Burlington announces a new low grade route to run within two years from Thermopolis to Powder River and on to Casper, with connections to Orin Junction and Guernsey. The project aims to bypass Northwestern tracks, linking Thermopolis Casper Kearney Grand Island and end at Grand Island. The Casper meeting on May 2 invites public input on the plan.

Appendicitis Operations At State Hospital

John McGinnis underwent an appendicitis operation at the state hospital on Tuesday afternoon by Dr. A. L. Cantril of Douglas. The case was very bad but the operation proved successful and he is recovering. McGinnis has worked as a camp mover for four years. A second operation for peritonitis was performed on Mrs. Cochran on Wednesday morning by Dr. Kamp, who was temporarily absent in Denver. Mrs. Cochran’s condition remains very dangerous.

Irrigation Expansion Planned for 400 Acres at Y. Mine

Governor Carey endorses a pumping plant to irrigate 400 more acres of the Y. mine land this summer. A site two to three miles southwest of town will house the equipment delayed by railroad service. Pat O Connor will oversee ditch construction and range wells near the river to secure a water supply formerly from Garden Creek.

Found a Home for Reed Family in Wheatland

G L Mills Wyoming Children's Home Society superintendent accompanied Mrs Chas Reed and children to Wheatland where Mr Reed found employment. They had previously been quarantined in Casper due to scarlet fever among the children and Mills arranged a new home for them.

Gold Dredge Starts On Wind River Run Near Wahaba

A large gold dredge began operation on Mig Wind River near Wahaba in Fremont county. The machine will conduct a one day test run to determine profitability, with potential transfer to Shoshon Gold Dredging Co. if successful.

Severe midwestern blizzard halts trains and damages towns

A major snowstorm swept eastern Wyoming and western Nebraska on Saturday. Four to five inches fell locally with heavier drifts near Glenrock and Moughey, and ten foot drifts with two feet on the level eastward. Wires blew down in Cheyenne, windows shattered, and property losses mounted while Northwestern trains stalled and eastern passengers faced cold and hunger.
