Riga reports that Kovno has fallen to Polish forces as Gen. Zeughozki’s insurgent army breaks through the Lithuanian front north of Shavi and other towns in Latvia’s vicinity.
London reports Lithuania mobilizes for war as Vilna falls to Poland and Kovno faces threat. Old men and students join the army while several attacks on the Kovno Vilna line are repulsed. Large German detachments reach Kovno seeking to assist Lithuanian forces, but their offers are declined.

Denver October reports a four hour and forty six minute embargo on incoming sheep at the stock yards due to crowding. About 130000 sheep filled the yards and several thousand were kept near the cave to ease congestion.
Nine other ballots were sent to New Jersey from Grae House including those of Secretary and Mrs Tumulty. These are the first ballots ever cast by Mrs Wilson and Mrs Tumulty.
E. Cary, colored orator, addressed the Colored Republican club at the court house Thursday evening. The audience included many whites who praised his forceful arguments and delivery. He spoke on campaign issues and loyalty of Negro soldiers in the world war and asserted the Negro vote will remain in the Republican column.
I. W. Dinsmore of Boettcher Porter Co of Denver is in the city to handle company interests and sell government state and municipal securities. Anrenting is government bonds and other foreign bonds are now being featured by the Denver company.
