In Lead, South Dakota, October 28, authorities pursue a suspect in the murder of Father A. B. Belknap, pastor of St. Patrick’s Cathedral. County Attorney James Fowler says investigators, after questioning 15 witnesses, are confident they know the man and expect his capture soon.
A district court petition seeks probate of Louisa M. Cody's will with executors named and major estate assets including Buffalo Bill artworks. Interwoven reports note union leaders' satisfaction with a wage-cut pause while labor board decisions are awaited and trains resurvey the recall of the rail strike.
Postmaster General Hays and about a score of passengers on the Midnight express based in New York collided in fog with a local train at Manhattan transfer New Jersey. Officials say no serious injuries though Rush Simmers was feared hurt more seriously. A physician found Hays with only strained muscles and choking.
The Japanese steamer Fukui Maru, 3087 tons, sailing toward Kobe, was reported sunk last night 1200 miles west of Cape Flattery. West Iran radio messages say wreck described but no details. all aboard were saved. The Fukui Maru had turned back toward Seattle due to a hurricane. the Pukul Maru may have carried a few passengers.
Chicago reports that the International and Great Northern strikers have not yet received a call off and delays persist as the board may or may not take up the case. Receivership complicates jurisdiction and officials anticipate possible informal settlement without formal action. Houston chairman G C Nellis says no official notice of a strike end has been received.
Dr. Charles Medbury told the Iowa conference on limitation of armament that war funding hurts the nation. He noted 1920 per capita tax was 43.64 dollars with 43.9 percent for war and 4.8 percent for evil departments. He urged cutting military expenditures to spare lives and souls. He warned against repeating past horrors and called for gradual reductions.

An unidentified female body, believed to be a Wesleyan University junior from Middletown Connecticut, was found in the Niagara River near Buffalo. A knife wound suggested homicide before disposal in the water. Middletown officials reported no junior from Wesleyan missing.

J M Rosebury hospitalized with a bullet wound to the right shoulder after a quarrel over property. His wife Mrs Rosebury is in custody as officers investigate a shooting at their Denver home. Her two young daughters Violet and Edith witnessed the incident. The couple had recently moved from Fort Collins, Colorado.
Evelyn Nesbit, former wife of Harry Thaw, ingested morphine and warned the marshal outside her New York apartment that she had poisoned herself. A doctor said she would recover after a stomach pump was used. Recent reports note a clone theft at her theatre district tea room.
A wireless message from the Fukui Maru reported by AP said the ship on the Kashima Maru route was badly damaged in the recent cyclone and is steering to Seattle for repairs.
Gallup New Mexico October 2 Twenty two men were arrested three stills destroyed and more than 1000 gallons of liquor seized in a raid completed by prohibition officers. The roundup the largest ever conducted in the state involved nearly the entire force.
In Sonora Mint state the law banning intoxicants except light wines and beer was repealed by the legislature. The move, announced by consul Ive Lelevier, removes restrictions on the siguor business in Sonora.
