Peking reports Soviet News agency says Russia will mediate between China and the Mongolian republic to ease tensions. A Soviet commercial delegation is en route to Peking to work toward peaceful, self determination based relations and reduce conflict risks.
Dr. Graham Chambers of Toronto was found after a two week trek in Ont kan forests. He survived on partridge scraps and heat from his coat, feet blistered, as search aircraft failed to spot him.
The Middle Park Stakes for two-year-olds at Newmarket was won today by Marshall Field's filly Golden Corn. Sol Joal's Polyhistor finished second, three quarters of a length behind, with Kennedy Jones' Flying Orb taking third among five starters.
New York October 14 A robber attempting to hold up Arthur Johnson of Cincinnati a broker in the washroom of the Hotel Bristol was badly beaten by his intended victim and taken to a hospital in serious condition Johnson a 226 pound man disarmed the assailant who used a monkey wrench and cut his face and head at the hospital the robber had concussion of the brain and a possible skull fracture Johnson reportedly carried 3000 in cash.
New York Oct 14 The Standard Oil company of New Jersey said last night the 10 percent employee bonus at its New Jersey refineries would be moved to October 15 and that it would seek to create extra work to raise the payroll for workers now on reduced hours or laid off.
Harrisburg October 14. Governor Sproul avoided discussing a Knox successor while denying resignation plans. Senate committee reshuffles loom after Knox’s death with Curtis to lead the Rules Committee and Curtin possibly yielding the Indian Affairs chair. Names floated for foreign affairs include Brackett Hale Poin dexter France with broader shifts on finance and appropriations.

Quo warranto actions filed in Basin Wyoming challenge Manderson incorporation and seek to oust mayor James A. Quiner and council members C H Burritt L O Gray and James Tolatrup. Plaintiffs contend no 150 residents existed when the incorporation petition was presented, tying alleged illegality to town leadership and ongoing tax-financed improvements.
Warranty deed records transfer of a three month old boy from Mrs. Nettle Davie of Texas to Mrs. Norma L. Wilson of Tampa. The transaction occurred last January in Harden County Texas and raises questions about the child's inheritance rights should Mrs. Wilson die before he reaches age.

A Franklin meeting was planned as local officials dispute control while hundreds of miners return to work amid the industrial court clash.
William A. Hightower an itinerant baker was convicted of murder in the death of Father Patrick E. Mealin a Colma Cal priest. The jury recommended life imprisonment and sentencing follows the recommendation. A motion for a new trial will be filed and an appeal announced.
Denver police say five boys arrested on automobile theft charges confessed to taking at least 60 cars in recent months for joyriding. They were released on their own recognizance to appear in court later.

Bogota October 14 The Colombian senate after three sessions ratifies the treaty with the United States by which Colombia is to receive 25 million dollars.
Chicago today saw railroad leaders warn of possible strikes over wage cuts. They said transport charges would fall in line with future wage reductions, while declining to specify next steps. Union leaders warned the vote may not trigger a full walkout, though regional strikes were tentatively discussed.
