At a special council meeting last night the city awarded the cemetery grading project to W O Logan after four bids were opened. Logan's bid underbid the closest competitor by 400 and was 2200 less than the highest bidder, confirming the contract for the city cemetery improvements.
A mob seized Wylie McNeely after his arrest for assault on an 8 year old girl near Mount Pleasant and burned him at the stake in Leesburg. The crowd from Camp and Titus counties watched as he died in the midnight blaze. Meanwhile David Bunn the confessed blackmailer and outlaw was shot dead while fleeing officers near Fort Worth after robbing a camping party at Lake Worth.
The council tentatively accepts Logan's bid to complete work with dates and contract details to be finalized. Robert Simpson wins the cemetery fence contract for about 6000 dollars, with Richars Cunningham Co as lone rival. Fred Van Gorden acts as president pro tem. election preparations proceed for November 8 with judge appointments deferred to Monday's meeting.

The Midwest gasoline compression plant in the Salt Creek field is being enlarged from 10,000,000 to about 20,000,000 cubic feet daily. The $1.5 million expansion will add a new camp, shops, dormitory, and equipment. about 260 workers are involved, rising to 100 to 125 operators once completed. The project aims to make the plant one of the world’s largest compression facilities.
