A Nov 29 report states fifteen auxiliary police cadets were killed in an ambush by about 100 men in Macroom, Cork. The same night, fifteen Liverpool cotton warehouses were burned, with two burned out completely. Police say Sinn Fein supporters are strongly suspected.
Secretary Baker reports in his annual defense review that postwar reforms lay the groundwork for a capable army model. He says the nation must maintain trained manpower large enough to swiftly expand in emergencies and emphasizes a modern infantry supported by powerful, mobile artillery. The report notes enduring military duties and closer ties between the National Guard and regular army.
Melvin Aronson a 24 year old truck driver died when his vehicle overturned on the Salt Creek road in a blinding snowstorm two miles from Casper. His body was found later by B B Blanton a state highway department worker. Aronson lived with two brothers on West J street Casper his parents live in Michigan and burial is expected there.
The body of Percy J. Burley 21, killed in an accident at Camp Meade Maryland is due this afternoon aboard the Northwestern under military escort. Burley enlisted December 2 1919 at Fort Logan and served at Camp Menale since then. He lived here five years before enlistment and attended the Casper High School. He was born at Fort Morgan Colorado. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at the Methodist church with Rev Walter L. French officiating. Members of the American Legion will attend. A I Spurlock returns to the Buzzard ranch after visiting his wife and baby son.
Keith Collins, once in the army, is identified as the alleged mastermind of a Burlington train robbery at Council Bluffs. The heist involved nearly five million dollars in registered mail. Police report Collins was captured at a Muskogee residence following the incident.
United Press reports reformers urge interstate rail ban on Sundays and closing government agencies including post offices. Proposed laws would outlaw Sunday trains and newspapers with penalties up to 5000 dollars fine and six months in jail for violations.
