Proposed Changes in Income Tax Rates and Consumption Taxes
The plan suggests higher income tax rates across brackets from $50 000 to over $100 000 and maintains a 70 percent top rate at $1 000 000. It argues high rates push investment away from tax exempt securities and that the rich would fund higher government returns by shifting away from bonds. It also cautions against radical increases in consumption taxes while advocating selective taxes aimed at surplus spending.
