Mrs. G. W. Meisenholder, 52, wife of Parkston's mayor, was fatally wounded when she answered a knock at the back door of her home. The shooting occurred last night in Parkston, D. April 1.
A prank alarm at the Midwest Refining company offices sparked a lunch hour fire in the drafting room. The mischief led to damage of a desk maps and other items and prompted a late alarm once an operator realized the warning was a joke. The building’s fireproof construction helped limit damage and the fire department presence followed.

In Poughkeepsie New York on April 1 temporary alimony of 7500 dollars monthly and counsel fees totaling 35000 dollars plus 12500 dollars for expenses were awarded to Mrs Anne A Stillman by Justice Joseph Morschauser in the suit brought by James A Stillman president of the National Bank of New York The ruling excludes the alleged confidential confession letters between spouses from evidence and bars testimony on marital communications citing privilege and policy The decision also notes recriminations raised by Mrs Stillman regarding a possible paternity claim and references a 30 month old child linked to Florence Leeds
Wyoming's new law enforcement department started functioning under state commissioner A. S. Roach on April 1 1921. The prohibition unit transfers its duties, Roach’s team can investigate crimes, gather evidence, and assist prosecutions. The department does not override existing agencies but aims to ensure impartial, effective operation.

In Sioux City Iowa on April 1 a 17 year old girl Marie Anderson of Draper South Dakota was shot dead by 28 year old Joseph Willmer also of Draper. After the killing Willmer killed himself at the home of Mrs Mary Miller grandmother of the victim.
A dummy female figure floated on City Park Lake in Denver as boy fishermen found a body believed to be a local woman who wrote a threatening letter about a Denver businessman. Police linked the letters to a real suicide, tracing clues from the pier to the lake.
