Government Passes Loan Bill With Subsidy Terms
The government approved the loan bill after debate on a 2 percent gross earnings share for subsidized companies. Gilmour proposed 2 percent for five years and 8 percent thereafter. A clause barred aliens from subsidized road work unless labor scarcity justified it. Tatlow’s motion to block the Canadian Pacific from the Coast-to-Kootenay road contract failed 19 to 13. Bill passed Friday at 1 a.m.

Stratton Syndicate secures Cascade-Carson railway charter
The Stratton Syndicate, eager for the Grand Forks town site, has secured the Cascade Carson railway charter. The move’s impact on the community and G N plans is uncertain.
