In Cape Town General Botha reopens negotiations for peace with Britain. He claims Dewet's influence waned and his followers are unreliable, leaving Botha to represent the Boer forces. British authorities believe surrendering Dewet could easily convert his following.
The Ra mona steamer on the Fraser river between New Westminster and Langly exploded Friday afternoon. Four people died on the scene and seven others were seriously injured with only two expected to survive. Passengers include Mrs. Morrison of Fort Langley and Mrs. Baillie of Mount Lehman. The two women were on the bow when the blast threw them into the river. their two babies aboard survived.
