Rhodes at De Beers meeting in Kimberley

Cecil Rhodes presided at a De Beers gathering in Kimberley on February 24 and announced a profit of 2,000,000 pounds. He called the war a puzzle, labeled the Transvaal and Free State as oligarchies, and accused their governments of conning the Dutch and sharing spoils. He cited Reitz’s long stated aim to drive England from Africa.

Notice of Incorporation for BC Telegraph and Telephone Company

Notice is given that an application will be made to the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia at its next session for an Act to incorporate a company with power to construct equip maintain and operate telegraph and telephone lines throughout the province. The company may erect poles and works as needed to establish and maintain a communication system.

Cascade City's Grand Dam Project Attracts Wide Attention

Development notes describe a 400 foot long dam 50 feet high with a 16 by 13 foot water canal and two 8.5 foot diameter iron pipes 2000 feet long. A powerhouse excavation costs $10660 and aims for 10000 horsepower for mining districts in Boundary and Christina Lake. Estimated plant cost is $500000 with rights to lands telegraph lines and potential amalgamations dated December 15, 1899.

Mary B Mineral Claim Seeks Crown Grant in Yale District

Issac H. Hallett on behalf of James F. Cunningham and Geo. R. Naden gives notice to apply for a Certificate of Improvements for the Mary B claim in Summit Camp Grand Forks Mining Division Yale District.
