Bridge Gangs Strike Ties Up Canadian Pacific Route

Sectionmen receive practical support as two bridge gangs from Robson to Nelson and another west of Robson walk out. Trains face slides near Gladstone and blockage along Cascade to Robson. CP officials refuse to arbitrate, raising crisis fears as surveys map a route from Marcus to Vancouver with a 20 mile Curlew spur to Republic and a low grade line.

Noble Named Boundary Road Superintendent

W J Noble of Hholt has accepted the role of road superintendent for the Boundary district extending from the mountain range east of Christina Lake to Rock Creek. Provincial Constable I A Dinsmore will shift to focus on police and license inspection duties. The Greenwood Miner urges practical, longer reach road building over expensive coastal plans and advocates common sense methods to speed opening of the district.

Route Clarification From Washington & Northam Chief Engineer

Progress on coke ovens and bridge superstructure in British Columbia

Excellent progress reported on the coke oven contract at Michel British Columbia with 185 ovens completed and 50 near done toward 212 total. The iron superstructure for the Robson Columbia River bridge is prepared for shipment by Montreal Iron Works and due at the site within two to three weeks.

Sophie Mountain wagon road work underway in region

H B Smith, C E, supervises a crew locating the Sophie mountain wagon road. Construction may take three weeks and could finish before snow if a live foreman leads the effort. Government oversight is expected. The money order exchange disruption between Canada and the United States ends, with direct payments now sent to the payable office.
