Railway Plans for Marcus Republic Line Near a Year Away

Spokesman-Review reports Peter Siems will lead construction for the Marcus Republic railway later called Washington and Northern. The line from Marcus to Cascade will total about 250 miles, connect to Nelson and Wenatchee, cost an estimated 9 million dollars, with two years needed to complete and grading outfits already en route. A smelter is rumored for Ives on the Columbia. Spokane firm Boothe Powell just received a large candy shipment destined for the city.
