Cascade Masquerade Ball Draws Crowded Crowd

Cascade held its first masquerade ball Thursday evening at the Railroad Headquarters hall under Prof. John Axtell. About thirty couples masked enjoyed a successful event with home made costumes. judges W Robinson and P J O Reilly were satisfied. Miss St John and Mr Hildberger received the first prizes.

Narrow Escape In Snow Storm Blocks Cascade Road

A fierce snow storm blanketed Cascade and created a four mile drift between 20 Mile House and Gladetone. Sawmill owner Alex McPherson lost his horse on a rocky hill near Olaon's tunnel and trudged to Gladatone while two men rescued the animal. Contractors soon dispatched 100 workers to clear drifts but faced renewed blocking as snowfall overwhelmed efforts.

A severe cold snap grips the northwest after a wet spell. Temperatures plunged with a morning reading 25 degrees below zero locally while Grand Forks Republic and Greenwood report even colder conditions. Cascade remains relatively milder in comparison as cold continues.

Norman McLellan & Co. have opened a wholesale hay grain and feed depot in Cascade. They rent the Fletcher barn on Second Avenue as a warehouse and ordered 12 carloads of hay and oats, with three or four already arriving.
