Rural Mail Routes Announced and Appointed Carriers
On November first the postal department notified Postmaster Walker to establish Rural Mail routes Nos 1 and 2. Butler Hill is carrier for No 1 and W T Hill for No 2. Route 1 covers 274 miles, 118 homes, 22 square miles, serving 536 people. Route 2 runs 25? miles, 130 homes, 32 square miles, serving 590 people. No delay in mailbox setup. Route 3 expected once approved.

New Telephone Deal Expands Carthage Service Network
The Carthage Telephone Co expands by linking with Rushville and Knightstown wires, reaching over one thousand subscribers across Rush, Henry, and Hancock counties. Rates stay unchanged as a new central switchboard is installed to handle growth, and lines are extended from Occident to Rushville with two lines into the city.

New Busines Block Opens After Two Firms Finish
This week completes the R. H. Hill & Co. and E. J. Dunn business block. Dunn’s rooms are being furnished by D. W. Kirkwood. The brick block runs from Main to Mill Street with a 3630 square foot ground floor and 5505 square feet total flooring. The store, one of the largest dry goods and clothing houses in the state, opens to the public Saturday September 28.
